Promoting literacy among young students in New York City.
Reading Empowers hosts Saturday morning reading clubs in underserved New York City elementary schools. Trained volunteers read to students and facilitate discussion, writing, and arts & craft activities focused around the stories' main ideas. Our goal is to instill in these young students, an interest in reading, with hopes that this will develop into a lifelong love and passion.
